Kevin Jeffery
Chula Vista, California
Kevin is a lifelong water advocate turned urban planner, landscape and architectural designer. Kevin focuses on waterscape design as well as sustainable green infrastructure. He recently moved with his wife from Juneau, Alaska to Southern California where he now works for the City of Chula Vista as a Landscape Planner. In 2019 he received a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. Specializing in innovative urban water design technologies, he utilizes the healing powers of the natural environment in his work which gained him the inaugural Emerging Leader award from River Network, also in 2019.
For Kevin, creating stronger bonds between communities and their natural resources has always been a passion both personally and professionally. Although relatively new to Southern California, Kevin brings the knowledge and experience from working on sustainability initiatives in three capital regions, District of Columbia, Austin, Texas, and Juneau, Alaska. He has worked for responsible development in the private, nonprofit and government sectors. In addition, he has created an administered his own large scale project in a water research study called “Blue Index.” Blue Index is a project to expand public participation in the protection and management of urban waterways. This project aims to improve a municipality’s narrative criteria by demonstrating the connection between the health of our waterways and our own well-being.
