2018 marks the 50 year anniversary of the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act. Groups around the country will be celebrating this milestone and looking to the future of our Wild and Scenic Rivers. Hear about what’s planned on two rivers, one in the Pacific Northwest and one in the Midwest, and about how you can use the 50th Anniversary toolkit to plan your own events.

Through real-life examples of 2018 Wild and Scenic Rivers Act 50th anniversary programming and Q&A with speakers, participants will learn:

• Tips for integrating the anniversary and rivers value messaging into existing annual programming
• Ideas for new creative rivers events and outreach
• Strategies for forging diverse partnerships

The St. Croix River Association and the Phipps Center for the Art will highlight the relationship they’ve forged to connect people with art and the river as part of the 50th Anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. In addition to a speaker series, outings and adventures, the St. Croix River Association is working with the National Park Service and other river oriented agencies and organizations to integrate the anniversary into local and regional arts and culture.

Discover Your Forest, a friends group for the Deschutes and Ochoco National Forest in Central Oregon and several local organizations are teaming up to make Central Oregon one of the best places in America to celebrate the Wild and Scenic 50th. They will share how integrating the rivers anniversary into recurring annual events and adding a few signature events and marketing campaigns are leading to broad community outreach and engagement.
