Addressing Emerging Contaminants in Source Water Using BIL Grants and Forgivable Loans Webinar

Event Info
The national Source Water Collaborative is pleased to launch this first webinar as part of a new SWC Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Webinar Series.
Emerging contaminants (ECs), like per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are an urgent public health and environmental issue facing communities across the United States and are of increasing concern among drinking water providers and the communities they serve. Through BIL, $10 billion in grant or grant-like funding is being made available to fund projects that address ECs in drinking water and wastewater through EPA’s Drinking Water and Clean Water State Revolving Funds (DWSRF, CWSRF) and new Emerging Contaminants in Small and Disadvantaged Communities (EC-SDC) Grant Program.
This webinar will:
- Introduce this large influx of BIL funding for ECs and how this is an unprecedented opportunity for States, Territories, Tribes to invest in new source water protection projects or enhance existing source water protection plans, that will deliver long term environmental and public health benefits, particularly to small, underserved, and/or disadvantaged communities.
- Showcase the ways Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) funding can support source water protection by addressing emerging contaminants in drinking water sources.
- Feature a case study highlighting how the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) accomplished their goals in tackling PFAS with EC-SDC funding along with future project ideas for the funding.
Expected Webinar Audience: The webinar is targeted to States, water utilities, source water protection staff, state revolving fund staff, local and regional source water collaboratives, Federal agencies, and other water stakeholders.
