Dennis Mabasa
Dennis Mabasa (they/them), Vice President of Community and Youth at The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Los Angeles, California). Dennis is a community leader dedicated to building an inclusive environmental movement. As the former COO of Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR), they orchestrated the Great LA River Clean-Up, uniting thousands annually for river restoration. Their passion for equity led to creating programs like Audubon Conservation Treks, training BIPOC youth as conservation leaders. They’ve spoken globally on intersectional community engagement and environmental education. Dennis’s recent creation, the River Fellowship at FoLAR, empowers students from underrepresented communities in STEM and conservation within the LA River Watershed. They champion scalable, nationwide youth programs, promoting inclusive environmental education models. Committed to mentorship, Dennis guides early-career educators and advocates for outdoor education and climate change initiatives in LAUSD. Their work is centered on fostering diverse voices and cultivating leaders for an equitable, sustainable future.
