Nicole Lampe is Managing Director of the Water Hub, a program she was hired to build in 2019 to bring more attention to the nation’s most pressing water challenges through strategic communications. The Water Hub provides tools, training, hands-on help, and thought partnership to groups working on water safety, access, affordability, climate preparedness, and watershed health.

Nicole has worked in cause communications for nearly twenty years. For most of that time, she has focused on protecting environmental and public health. At The Trust for Public Land, Nicole worked to expand outdoor access for communities across the Western United States. She continued working on environmental justice at Resource Media, a nonprofit PR firm. During her 11 years there, Nicole built the organization’s first digital team, and led its oceans and freshwater programs. She worked with clients from UNESCO’s Marine World Heritage Program to William Penn Foundation and Community Water Center. She was also actively involved in Resource Media’s equity initiative, learning a tremendous amount that informs her work to this day.

Nicole grew up in Merced, California, riding horses and raising sheep for 4H. She went on to study history at the University of California, Berkeley. She has served on the boards of High Country News, Whales of Guerrero Research Institute and Civil Conversations Project, and is an avid cook and gardener.
